Plus Size Fashion makes History.

 photo DSC_0417_zps869172d2.jpg

Something really exciting happened this week, perhaps the most exciting thing to happen to Plus Size Fashion in a very long time. This Tuesday for the first time along side LFW, Evans presented a catwalk of their most recent collection 'Design Collective' which featured items from top London designers as well as the winners of the graduate 'Cut for Evans' competition all of which pushed the boundaries of plus size fashion. The pieces were a mixtures of prints, textures and styles with bright colours, sparkles and intricate cuts. It was nothing short of thrilling to be in the Freemasons hall watching a catwalk of beautiful clothes, which for once I  knew I could actually get in my size. Evans are known as the founders of the first plus size high street store and they seem to be paving the way for fashion forward collections offering designer clothes at high street prices. All items will be on sale from Febuary 2015 with prices ranging from £35-£220. Here are a few of my own shots (see more  images here ) Do tell me your thoughts, are you excited as I am?

  1. This looks like such an exciting collection. I think it is a massive step for plus size fashion x

  2. It is a fabulous move and perhaps more companies will cut for bigger frames. I have to say though, I never buy anything from Evans and I never see anything I like as it's generally cut for an apple shape, it's tenty up top. I need a more hourglass cut and as a result being an 18/20 can't even shop in the one high street store designed for my size (just not my shape :-(. Monsoon still great for me, occasionally next but on the whole I find it practically impossible to shop for the style I want....
Perhaps Evans might one day realise that plus sizes are also different shapes!!

  3. Exciting! I agree-ish with Sarah below, I rarely buy from Evans as I don't really find anything I like. I got loads of the Swan by CL collection, but the main range generally doesn't do it for me.

  5. I just watched the catwalk show on YouTube and there was some pretty damn amazing stuff in it. So many amazing colours, sheer fabrics... and sparkle!

  6. I thought Evans recently introduced a way of finding which of their styles suit your shape (hourglass, apple, pear etc)? High street shopping is difficult at any size when you're not the same shape as the fit models :-(

  7. I just don't like anything - the patterns, the fabrics used, the billowy cut of the upper body clothes. It's heavily tunic based - there's nothing fitted it's all design to swathe the body in fabric to disguise bellies and back fat.

They don't seem to grasp the fact that a lot of women want to celebrate their curves not hide them under layers of fabric. I think the cuts for apple shape seem to be ok but when you are hourglass you want something waist defining that also shows off the bust and hips otherwise you just look twice the size you are due to the clothing.

I think Evans needs to rethink who they are targeting - is it apple/pear shapes and if so stick to that don't try and say you've got clothes for hourglasses when you really, really don't. Ps Evans if you are ever listening I'm happy to come in and consult with you on designing a range for hourglasses! Most of the brand collabs these days tend to focus on the under 30 blogger community but us over 30 would like to be better represented too!

On the plus side - their boots are amazing and I wouldn't shop anywhere else for them.
