Health at every size.

I wanted to share something a little different with you in this post. When I first started writing this blog I spoke about my struggles with dieting over the years and writing in this space here finally helped me to get on the road to obtaining body confidence. I was still positive that I wanted to maintain a healthy diet, even after ditching the diets not because the media tells me I should, but because I want to. I have learnt first hand that bad diet and no exercise can be harmful to SOME people. I say some because this  personal to me. This last week I have discovered I have an inflamed Gall Bladder, which could possibly be Gall Stones (waiting on a scan for results) I have been pretty sicky this last year and was unable to identify what the problem was, when I was finally diagnosed and researched into my illness I was pretty shocked to say the least.

Basically my years of yo yo dieting had caught up on me. Gall Bladder problems are usually, but not always synonymous of women who have lost dramatic amounts of weight too fast, laxative abusers and people who eat high contents of fattening food, I am ashamed to admit I meet these criteria's. It doesn't mean that if you are fat you will get this. Not at all. There a number of people who are slim who also have this problem. The Gall Bladder job is to help break down fat and does not discriminate by size or gender men also suffer with this. However my GP discussed with me that yes me being over weight and a yo yo dieter would have had something to do with my illness. I then realised something, what they always say is really true. The body is your temple, you must treat it with the love and respect it deserves to give it the nutrients  it needs in order to keep going and that I have neglected to do for a long time.

The aim for me used to be to get thin, but after being welcomed into a community by other plus size bloggers I soon realised that loving yourself is the most important thing. It is also about personal ownership of your body. Other people don't get to tell me how to live your life you do. This is my body and I am starting to love it. I want to really love it by giving it the goodness that it requires, so in realising that I vowed to myself I would make more of a conscious effort to eat more fruit and veg and do a little more exercise. To stop these ridiculous diets and these weight loss teas that have played a part in making me ill. There was a point to this point some where, I promise, so because of this I have made avid steps to change my lifestyle I will not persecute myself for eating fattening food, it will not become a reward for being healthy I will have what I want when I want but in moderation. I will start eating organic or non pesticide foods which is really where I was going with this post.

Below is an image of a delicious veg box that I ordered through the internet. As I live in London I found a local business that delivers to my area fresh harvested fruit, veg , meat and eggs to my door. They are called The 'Kent Veg Box' company and they are great. They currently have a three week trial running at 50% off and I urge you all to give them a go! You can find their website here.

With the veg above I was able to make a delicious cottage pie recipe from the Knorrs website here it was really lovely and by omitting some things such as oil and butter I was able to make this in a healthier way.

Hope you enjoyed this post and hope it wasn't too heavy and deep for a friday

Polka Dots and Pink lips.

Finding an outfit for work is something that I struggle with, I wear black a lot any way but more specifically at work, it is so easy to grab something easy like black trousers and a top but after a while I do get bored of wearing the same things all the time. I decided to shake it up a little bit and wear something a little different.

Below I am wearing a Polka dot shirt which I got in Asda back in the summer. It is sleeveless which is not very useful for a cold winter in London but teamed with a thick granddad cardigan  it looks pretty good. For this outfit I wore it with my green and leather jacket from Primark and with my brogue boots from Evans (which I talked about in a post a while back)  It turned out to be a really nice outfit. Of course I added a gold collar necklace because I am OBSESSED. You can't see it but I am wearing a coral/pink lipstick from Revlon called Siren which I plan do a post about some time this week!

So what do you guys like to wear to work?

A monthly round up.

So it has been a while since I have done a roundup post, I took a little break from blogging weekly not really by choice purely because I haven't been that inspired lately and I don't want to blog for the sake of it. A walk in the park.

I took these photos a while back at the start of September and totally forgot to post them. I have also been using a friend Nikon D80 to take these photos, the quality is astounding and I think I will definitely be investing in a better camera in the new year. I love how beautiful the Autumn is and it was so lovely to go for a walk with my boyfriend Dan around Richmond Park on this gorgeous sunny afternoon.

Weekend Pleasantries.

It has been so long since I have done an outfit post, mainly because I have been away in America and since being back spent the majority of my time in my Pajamas. Don't judge me I've been ill! However this last weekend it was my Best Friends birthday and of course, I thought it appropriate to make myself look pretty for celebratory reasons.

Whilst I am showing you a picture of my face I thought I would mention the godsend to my lashes that is Benefit - They're Real Mascara. This mascara really adds dramatic length to my lashes and with a good lash curler they seriously look amazing. At around £18 it is more than what I would normally pay but I have to say it is worth every penny and saves me spending £6+ on fake lashes.

Moving on to my outfit. For a birthday meal out I opted for this nifty little sheer bodice top that I found a few weeks back in Primark.  Now, if you are a follower of my blog you would know that I love Primark A LOT. It isn't quite as cheap as it used to be but you can get some good things if you hunt around. I paired the top (which I recall was around £8) with a very old skirt from New Look and some Chelsea style boots from Evans (similar to be found here.) Lots of people asked me if was a dress, it actually does look a bit like one don't you think?

I am sure than many of you have seen these style coats around at the moment and of course I got this one from Primark at £25 it is a steal and I plan on getting a friend of mine to add some studs to it for me. I will post about that next time.

Dinner was at a Delicious Thai Restaurant  Busaba Eathai in Piccadilly in central London. I love Asian food so much and this is one of my favorite places to eat ever. If you ever go be sure to try the Massaman Duck curry!

So this concludes my fairly interesting weekend. What did you all get up to?

New York New York.

They say that New York city is the most amazing city in the world with its bustling streets, its pulsing atmosphere and its crazy traffic. It really is one big melting pot. I found myself with a neck ache by the end of my trip from constantly looking up to the sky in awe of the huge buildings above me. Every corner of the city is something new, every neighborhood has a different vibe. As a girl who gave her heart to London five years ago it was in fierce competition at being my favorite city not quite sure if it takes that crown but it was certainly a magical experience none the less.

Times Square.

I felt like a magpie everything sparkly caught my eye. Of course I had to take an obligatory snap of me next to a cop car in Times Square.

I loved how diverse the city was and couldn't help snap this nutter in a bikini it was bloody cold that day but I rated him for doing his thing.

Central Park

Here is a photo of myself and my lovely friends, I picked the perfect time of the year to go it was fall and the park was just so beautiful I could have spent the whole day here.

Of Course I felt the need to do a little dance I mean why not I am in NYC after all.

One of my Favorite places in NYC was Downtown Soho. It had some really cool shops and boutiques and seemed very young and hip.

Perhaps one my favorite places in NYC  had to be Williamsberg Brooklyn. I was told my another American friend that it was cool to visit and I just totally loved every bit of it. It is very hipstery but I like that kinda thing and it was just fabulous (The picture below isn't mine btw I deleted all my good ones by accident boo!)

Here I am thought at a rooftop bar overlooking the Manhattan Skyline it was pretty amazing. The bar was so cool too! Can't really see it too well but trust me it was amazing!

Any way this concluded my post on NYC, there was so much more I could write and I know there was so much more I could have seen when I was there. I will most definitely be going back maybe next time I will take the boy ;) Don't worry he got some $9 Vans out my holiday!

Hope you enjoyed my post!

My America trip. Part 1 Washington DC.

One of the most important things to me in my life is finding the time to travel this glorious world we have been put in. For me travelling is my favorite hobby and an expensive one at that, but I would rather spend my hard earned money on squeezing the most of this world.

This trip to America was something I had been exited about for such a long time. Whilst at University I was blessed with meeting some beautiful friends, they happened to be from America, we continued to keep in touch even after they left and I knew I had friends for life. After many talks of me visiting I finally decided to take the leap and book my flights. On the 21st of October I boarded a plane to Baltimore where I began my mini tour of America!  First stop was Washington DC, and what a bloody good timing. The weather was glorious, blue skies not a cloud in sight and 23 degrees. Perfection. I shan't bore you too much with my incessant ramblings of how amazing everything was I will how ever show you a few pictures of my trip.

First stop  'The Capital Building.' This is the meeting place for all of the US Congress and houses the Library of Congress.I was lucky enough to have a private tour of the building and learn a vast amount of information about how the US Congress works. I even got to meet a Senator fancy aye?

This was my view of the Dome inside the capital building. It was painted by a number of artists, and the images around the dome depict the important historical events of the US.

This is a photo of my friend and I stood in front of the famous Washington Monument on the National Mall. It was built originally in commemoration for George Washington the first US president. The Monument is the tallest stone feature in the world.

Finally I saw the White House. Well I am pretty sure you all know who lives here. It was such a beautiful building and although you can't go right up to it, it's very cool to see it from far! It was such a perfect and Autumnal day which made everything look 10x prettier!

I could go on and on about Washington DC, I just loved it and I would most definitely go back and see it again. It reminded me a little of London which is why I think I loved it that little bit more.

I have more pictures but I think this post is already photo heavy so I will leave any more until my next post on NYC.

Ta Ta for now!
